School Closure - Staff Training in Child Protection

Principal's Welcome

Hello and welcome to our school website.  On behalf of the school community, I would like to welcome you to St Laurence O'Toole's National School which is known locally as Roundwood National School.  We are an inclusive school and pride ourselves on providing a holistic education for the children in Roundwood and beyond.  Our school is co-educational with classes from Junior Infants to 6th class, including two classes for children with Autism.

As a school community we have developed our own Tochar Values which permeate throughout every aspect of our school day.  These values of Teamwork, Championing Others, Cinéaltas, Honour, Engagement in Learning and Resilience were developed by pupils, staff and parents together.  We are proud of our school values and at all times strive to live and learn in accordance with them.  Our school motto is ‘We aim High’ which encapsulates all that we are as a school community - high expectations, high standards in teaching and learning and one of the highest schools in Ireland geographically!

As Principal, I work with a staff who are passionate about education and learning and who are committed to ensuring that every child who walks through our doors is given the opportunity to thrive and reach their potential.  At Roundwood National School, we celebrate the individuality of each child and we place the happiness and wellbeing of each child at the centre of all we do.  We strive to foster pupil voice throughout the school and we are committed to providing a safe and caring learning environment, which facilitates the nurturing of each pupil to fulfil their educational potential. The achievement of this aim is central to all of the planning processes and activities that occur in our school.

Please enjoy browsing around our website and this will give you greater insights into our school life from whole school events to sporting achievements and recent activities in our school.
